Class Description:  Where the Action Is: Gripping Characters Create Gripping Action

The plots of novels, short stories, and memoir are driven primarily by the nature of the characters. In other words, We are what we do or We do what we are. Character and action are bound together.

This workshop will focus on character development in our writing: What are the elements of character? What do we need to know about our characters before we begin writing? How does action reveal character?

Short writing assignments will enhance our skill in character development. When possible, we will take advantage of our beautiful surroundings, incorporating them into the assignments.

If you have writing in progress that you wish to discuss, bring it and we will make time.
