Driving
Madeline Island is located in the Chequamegon Bay area of Lake Superior in Northwestern Wisconsin. Madeline is the largest of the twenty-two islands that comprise the Apostle Islands. It is accessible via a twenty minute (2.6 mile) ferry ride from Bayfield, Wisconsin. The Island has been described as "one of the great undiscovered treasures of the Midwest."

Ferry Schedule
When planning your travel arrangements it is important to note that the ferry to Madeline Island operates on a set schedule that varies with the seasons. The ferry typically does not operate before 6:30 am or after 10 pm. For a full schedule and rates please visit the Madeline Island Ferry Line website.

Flying
If you are a pilot, Madeline Island does have a small airport. Otherwise Duluth International (approximately 90 miles from Bayfield, WI) is serviced by Northwest Airlines and Ironwood Michigan's Gogebic Airport (approximately 45 miles from Bayfield) is serviced by Midwest Express Airlines.
