Registration
Workshops are small and on-campus lodging is limited - both fill quickly.

We encourage you to register as early as possible.

Rates and Fees

Tuition costs are listed with each workshop description on this site. Tuition does not include lodging, meals or materials.

Lodging. MISA has modern on-campus accommodations but offers some off-campus alternatives. View Lodging Rates. If you plan to register for off-campus lodging, please call us as soon as possible to discuss the alternative selections.  Many of the latter are rented by seasonal visitors, and it's best to book them soon.

Meals are included as a separate item when you register.  MISA provides a substantial continental breakfast and a tasty box lunch.  A vegetarian option is always available. The evening meal is on your own.  There are seven restaurants and two grocery stores on the Island.  The on-campus lodging has a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot to allow for some self-catering.

Materials Fees. Students in courses may use materials in the making of their projects. Materials fees can range from $0 to over $100.   Because the amount or type of materials used will vary by workshop, materials fees are not included in the tuition amount; however, when applicable, these fees will be shown with the details of the class description. In addition, each class may also have a separate materials requirement that the students should bring with them. Click on View Materials List to see the supplies you must bring with you. Payment for materials purchased from the instructor or the school is required on the last day of class.

Payment

When registering, students may pay either a 20% down payment of the total tuition, lodging and meal plan or the full amount.  Any unpaid balance will be due forty-five (45) days prior to the commencement of the workshop.

Cancellation Policy
Registrants who cancel after being accepted into a class will be charged a cancellation fee of $75 regardless of the reason for cancelling. Cancellation fees reflect the cost of registration, staff, instructor contracts, material acquisitions, and other services.

Registrants must pay the balance due 45 days prior to the start of the class.  The down payment will not be refunded  for cancellations after this 45 day deadline; and there will be no refund for any amount if cancellation occurs less than 30 days prior to the class.  We encourage the use of trip insurance.

Registrants who cancel their enrollment in a class to transfer to another class will not pay the cancellation fee.

A class registration is not transferable to another person.

We expect participants will attend the entire class as scheduled. Late arrivals and early departures are disruptive for both the instructor and the other participants. Please make every effort to participate fully in your class. Tuition adjustments will not be made for late arrivals or early departures. When possible, please notify MISA if you know you will be late or require an early departure.

Call us before enrolling if you have questions about these policies.

Academic Credit

Academic credit for certain workshops is available through arrangements with Northland College in Ashland, WI.

The Northland College undergraduate credits cost $180 for two semester credits. This amount is in addition to the tuition fee shown for each class.

Northland will provide a transcript record.

Tuition for Area Residents
Full-time residents of Bayfield and Ashland Counties are eligible for a 40% discount for any regular course on a space-available, stand-by basis. The discount may not be available for certain classes and does not apply to the cost of materials for a class. Local residents must register, and they will be informed if a discounted space is available one week prior to the starting date of the course. Local residents must present a valid driver's license.

Course Cancellations
MISA will conduct courses for which a minimum number of students are registered. If it is necessary for MISA to cancel a class for any reason, students will be notified and offered another class or a full refund. We cannot be responsible for non-refundable airline tickets.

Accessibility
Studios are handicapped accessible. If you have mobility restrictions, please contact us to discuss access to studios and other facilities.
