Instructor: Lisa Solomon

About This Workshop

In this workshop we will delve into color theory and color mixing through the magic that is watercolor. The workshop will dive into more technical aspects of color and how water based media work, balanced with fun prompted exercises to test out the tricks and theories you’ll be learning. Students will emerge with a better understanding of individual pigments/colors, color wheels and schemes, paint transparency and opacity.

How to identify the value, intensity and temperature of color, as well as make a traditional scientific AND personal color wheel will also be covered. By the end of class students will be able to distinguish local color and how materials, adjacent colors, lighting, cultural influences, etc. can all impact our perception of color. Based on the best selling book A Field Guide To Color, there will be content geared for all levels of watercolor experience and the class will help designers, crafters, and fine art enthusiasts gain stronger footing in their approach to using and experimenting with colors.
