About This Workshop
Immerse yourself and find your creative path in the imagery of beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico, painting the colors, textures, and shapes. We’ll work with watermedia, collage, and printmaking, creating multiple paintings and drawings on location and in the Classroom.
This workshop will focus on Santa Fe imagery using the “dropped in color” technique, which incorporates luminosity and brilliance in watercolor. The process is an exploratory, multiple layer, color fusion style of painting that allows the pigments to blend and combine naturally on the paper support without making “mud”.
Helen will demonstrate a new way of seeing and observing, giving you the confidence to draw objects and shapes. We’ll spend a 1/2 day painting on location at the Museum of International Folk Museum.
Simple gelli plate printmaking techniques will also be incorporated and collaged onto the painted surfaces. Composition fundamentals will be demoed and discussed giving you the freedom to create magnified, close-up botanical, architectural, and still life compositions.
We will also walk or drive to various outdoor locations to gather ideas, paint, and draw.
