Keiko Tanabe
Keiko Tanabe, AWS, NWS, SDWS-MA, AIS, a mostly self-taught artist, began her professional art career in 2005 and has since gained worldwide recognition for her atmospheric watercolors. Her paintings, often created en plein air, beautifully capture the essence of time and place, depicting both exotic and simple scenes from her travels. Using a distinctive combination of color, texture, and signature brushwork, she brings landscapes, cityscapes, waterscapes, and interior scenes to life.
Her work has been showcased in numerous national and international juried and invitational exhibitions, and has garnered recognition globally. Keiko’s paintings have been acquired by private and corporate collectors from around the world, and have been featured in prominent art magazines and publications in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
Keiko has been a sought-after workshop instructor since 2011, conducting numerous workshops and live demonstrations worldwide. Her teaching approach focuses on helping students identify and solve challenges to refine their technical skills and artistic style. She has also served as a juror for art exhibitions on both national and international levels.
In 2018, she was appointed to the advisory board of American Watercolor Weekly. She has published several books and four instructional DVDs.
Keiko was born in Kyoto, Japan, and currently resides in San Diego, California.
