The first trip leaves at 6:30 am from Bayfield (our port town) and the last boat departs from the Island at 10:30 pm. Reservations are not accepted.

MISA is located 1.5 miles from the ferry dock.

Flying

For commercial flights we recommend Duluth International Airport (DLH), which is the closest Regional Airport (approximately 90 miles from Bayfield, WI).

It is serviced by Delta and United Airlines as well as all major car rental agencies.

Delta offers five daily flights from Minneapolis to Duluth. United has five daily flights from Chicago to Duluth. The frequency of these connections makes it easy to schedule your travel.

If you have a private plane, Madeline Island has its own small airport.

MISA/Duluth Airport Shuttle

We offer round trip shuttle service from Duluth International Airport to your room on campus. The cost for the shuttle is $340 roundtrip and includes your ferry ticket. If you are planning to use the shuttle service, please call the Registrar at 715-747-2054.
