Dan Mondloch

Dan Mondloch is an award-winning third generation landscape painter from St. Cloud, Minnesota. His first interest in painting was sparked in the 9th grade when he mentioned to his father, Jim, that he wanted to give painting a try. The next morning, Dan awoke to find the kitchen table covered with everything he could need to paint a watercolor. The following summer, Mondloch and his father took a plein air class together and—nearly 20 years later—painting is Dan’s passion and vocation.

After graduating in 2007 from Saint Cloud State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing, Mondloch has completed many prominent commissions and has regularly been invited to teach workshops and residencies around the United States. His work has been featured in PleinAir Magazine’s PleinAir Today Newsletter, Fine Art Connoisseur’s Fine Art Today Newsletter, Artists on Art magazine, and several other publications.

In 2013 and 2017, he was awarded the prestigious Artist Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. Also in 2017 and 2018, Mondloch was invited to present at the PleinAir Convention & Expo (#PACE17), in San Diego, California and Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Recent honors include Best of Show at Paint Du Nord 2015, Plein Air Hudson 2016, Grand Marais Plein Air 2017, and he will participate in the Door County and Laguna Beach Plein air invitationals in 2018.

Mondloch lives in St. Cloud with his beautiful wife Mallory, 18-month-old son Jack, and plein air painting canine bud Ruby.
