Marina Soria

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1961, Marina Soria is a seasoned artist and educator. With degrees in Fine Arts and Graphic Design, she lectured for many years on Graphic Design and Editorial Design in the University of Buenos Aires, and later on as an Associate Professor in Typography. Marina took a year-long study under a professor trained by a Japanese master, exploring eastern principles of Beauty in sumi-e and eastern calligraphy. She distilled and blended these principles with her rich experience and background in the fine arts, typography and graphic arts, employing unique approaches and techniques that blend diverse disciplines of art, textile art, graphic design, sumi-e and calligraphy.

Her works, vibrating with a love for nature and exploding with life and colour, have been exhibited internationally and are part of collections in institutions and private collections around the world. Marina has received numerous national and international awards, and has been featured widely in calligraphic arts publications.

A prolific artist, Marina finds joy as an experimental art calligrapher and book artist, and continues to teach internationally. Sharing with students the creative process is an extremely enriching practice which ends up redefining the creative process itself. Her main interest is to mingle and blend diverse Eastern and Western disciplines to challenge the limits of conceptual art and technique.

Marina is keen to help students find their own voice and expressions.
