Do you have a box of photos you’ve always wanted to paint, but don’t know where to begin? Have you tried to paint them, but they don’t look how you want them to look, and you don’t know what’s wrong? This is the class for you! This is a repeat of the Santa Fe 2022 class, by request!

A variety of take-home skills will be packed into this course, such as:
*Which photos are best, easiest to use for a painting. How to recognize and take those kinds of photographs.
*Finding your ‘style’.
* 3 solid tips on how to Simplify the many things in your photos – and we will practice in class.
*4 important watercolor skills that are a game-changer.
*Practice with landscapes, florals and/or cityscapes. We’re going to delve into all of them!
*Specific things you can do now to ‘loosen up’ your watercolors.
*Introducing other media into your watercolors – acrylic, pastel, etc.
*Shadows – creating the effect of sunlight.
*No drawing skills are required.

– We will do more than just talk about these skills. There will be demos and handouts, and how you apply them directly to your own work. You should have some watercolor experience for this class – know how to mix your paint and have painted a few watercolors, though they don’t have to have been successful.

– Kathie is a ‘hands on’ teacher, providing a lot of personal attention to work out your problems. For example, you will be contacted prior to the workshop to send a few photos that interest you, so that she can prepare specific advice and guidance to help you once you’re in class. It’s a no fear zone.
