Eco Print Move the Needle

Genre: Quilting

Type of Medium: Hand Stitching, Embroidery Stitching, Working with Eco Printed Wools

Location: Madeline Island

Availability: Spaces Available

Workshop Description:

Join Sue Spargo for an immersive five-day exploration of embellishment using beautiful eco-printed wools! In this inspiring workshop, you'll create a richly embellished sampler featuring Sue's signature techniques of layering, appliqué, and embroidery.

Begin by selecting a soft, tone-on-tone color palette that complements the natural beauty of eco-printed wools. Create a layered foundation using a variety of textural fabrics and appliqué techniques, including needle-turn appliqué, English paper piecing, reverse appliqué, hand piecing, yo-yos, and more.

Once your background is complete, you'll dive into the art of embellishment, discovering the peaceful rhythm and creativity that hand stitching brings. Sue will guide you through a wide variety of embroidery stitches while experimenting with different thread types, weights, and stitch combinations to add depth, texture, and personality to your piece. The unique patterns and organic markings of the eco-printed wools provide a stunning canvas for creative stitching and embellishment.

Whether you're new to embroidery or looking to expand your stitching repertoire, you'll leave with a one-of-a-kind sampler, new techniques, and a renewed appreciation for the art of slow stitching.

For this workshop, please choose eco-printed wools in a tone-on-tone or very soft, subtle color palette. Sue will bring many Eco Prints to class for purchase.
