Jeff Berkes

An Internationally published photographer was introduced to our National Parks and extreme weather at a very young age and quickly gained a profound interest in lightning storms, tornadoes, blizzards, wildfires and our insanely beautiful night sky. His infatuation with extreme weather quickly transformed into an obsession with documenting his adventures in the elements through photography. Traveling to places unknown gave him the opportunity to discover the night sky that he never knew existed. In 1996, he got my drivers license and never looked back, “All I wanted to do was just drive and see the world and the weather that shapes it into the work of art it is”. The dedication he had, and still has towards exploration and chasing mother nature in the wildest places continues to grow every single day for the past 25 years. By 2007 he had completed his photography degree and was working for a National Geographic and Magnum photographer. Jeff quickly became a chief photo retoucher, website manager and image editor. In 2009, at the age of 28, Jeff received his first National Geographic Adventure Cover as part of a story on our National Parks. Since then it has led to numerous publications by National Geographic, The Weather Channel, National Park Service, Outdoor Photographer, Discover, Nikon, NASA, NFL, TIME Magazine, CNN and many others. He continues to travel across the United States while eagerly anticipating Mother Nature to reveal her next unguarded moment. Teaching workshops and introducing the beauty that the night has to offer to others has become a passion of his. Jeff currently lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and it a proud husband, and father to his 3 year old daughter.
