Carly Mul

Genre: Quilting

Carly, a (Dutch) lawyer by education, discovered a passion for fabric when she was in her thirties and moved with her family from The Netherlands to the United States. She started Box Emotions, a craft business selling hundreds of fabric covered boxes. In 2003 Carly founded Webfabrics, a successful quilt retail business on the East Coast, that she sold in 2022. Carly’s eye for color is well known in the quilting world. She gives lectures and workshops about trends in color and collage, her personal favorite style of quilting. She has consulted with fabric companies and is available for everyone who wants to ask her a question about color. She works in her studio on her art and teaches collage quilting at guilds and shows, both national and international. Many of her quilts have been accepted into shows. In an effort to help her students find the fabrics they need, she started www.collagefabric.com, a site dedicated to collage quilting with super small fabric cuts.

Her book, Freestyle Color Collage, came out in February 2025 and in August Carly was a featured guest on The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims. The episode will air on 6/28/2026.
