Jennifer Schelter is a writer, interdisciplinary artist, and yoga teacher whose work explores the body, belonging, and stories we carry.
Her writing and teaching draw from memoir, acting, visual art, and nearly three decades of offering mindful practices, and writing workshops.
She teaches at the University of Pennsylvania and Maine Media College, and founded the Radiant Retreat, a mindfulness and writing retreat in Mexico.
A former actress, Jennifer wrote and produced four one-woman shows, including Love Lessons from Abu Ghraib, with Amnesty International, and performed with the Tony Award-winning ensemble at Denver Center Theatre Company.
Her watercolors have been exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
She co-founded Yoga On The Steps, Philadelphia's largest yoga fundraiser for breast cancer awareness, and is a Living Beyond Breast Cancer Community Award recipient and Best of Philly honoree.
Her memoir, Some Beauty, explores the beauty myths we inherit, the selves we create, and the lifelong practice of returning to ourselves through art.
Excerpts have been presented by Live Radio Arts and published in Dorothy Parker's Ashes. Her writing has appeared in Schuylkill Valley Journal and Wild River Review.
Jennifer lives outside Philadelphia in a converted horse stable with her two cats.
