Jessica Marquez
Genre: Fiber Arts
Jessica is a California-born, Brooklyn-based artist and educator whose work is rooted in creative play, traditional handcraft and sustainable practices. In 2009 she launched a handmade business, Miniature Rhino, named after a young cousin’s imaginary dentist friend, Dr. Rhino, who embodied a playful symbol of imagination. Jessica creates patterns, kits, classes and soft goods while teaching workshops in-person, online, and at retreats. She is the author of Make and Mend (2018) and Stitched Gifts (2012), and is featured in Grace Bonney’s In the Company of Women, as well as many print and online publications. Throughout her work, Jessica champions hand-stitching as a creative, practical, sustainable and meditative practice.
