Genre: Studio Painting

Steve Rogers is an Intuitive Abstract Artist that is inspired by the plein air locations that he teaches at throughout the United States and Mediterranean Europe. When he returns to the studio his passion has increasingly become painting the emotion and spiritual feeling of place rather than elaborating on the representational imagery he has already created in the field.

Rogers is only using this internal reference as a jumping off point and then begins a conversation with the painting itself in which Rogers allows the development to guide his action in an intuitive and responsive manner. Somewhere toward the end of this dance he engages in a more proactive way to pull the composition together.
