About This Workshop

Are you ready for a vacation from the hard work of learning watercolour technique? Come join a watercolor “playcation” where you can strengthen technique the fun way! Plein Air, Studio Painting and a Desert Experience combine to create an environment for intuitive and experimental watercolor with artist Angela Fehr. Angela’s ‘heart-prioritizing” approach to watercolor uses experimentation and play to create opportunities for new discoveries, freedom of self-expression and a stronger ability to adapt as the painting evolves, and she invites you to join the fun! If you’re looking for a workshop that will help you develop new strategies, strengthen your watercolour skills and bring more freedom and self-expression into your art practice, this workshop has been designed for you!
During the workshop, Angela will introduce new materials to combine with watercolor, demonstrating both in studio and on location at beautiful Tanque Verde Ranch. Angela’s approach starts with getting personal with your subject. Using the sights, colors and textures of the Arizona desert, Angela will bring that inspiration into plein air painting and studio painting with an emphasis on simple and direct shapes, marks and lines. Fun ways to warm up and get the creative juices flowing will introduce each painting session. Alternative media techniques will be introduced, such as using printmaking techniques, stencils, additive and reductive paint application and water-soluble crayons to add lively detail and texture to your paintings. In addition to the supply list, Angela will be bringing tools and materials for you to try in your painting practice. This approach to watercolor painting is freeing, full of energy and immediacy and brings unique personality to your art. Mistakes are welcomed and create opportunities for new possibilities for the painting. And each artist’s individuality makes the art created as unique as you are.
