Workshop Description:
This five-day workshop is a deep dive into the wildboho-maker mindset. We’re moving beyond traditional embroidery patterns and into the world of improvisational, dimensional and mixed-media embroidery.
Instead of following a rigid set of instructions, we’ll start with your own inspiration and build a piece from the ground up. You will learn how to skill stack by combining fabric painting, needle felting and improvisational stitching, among other techniques.
Throughout the week, I’ll show you how I use unexpected materials to give a piece structure before we ever pick up a needle. We’ll spend time embroidering to create rich, tactile surfaces and using needle felting to soften edges and lift the work right off the surface. We’ll finish by adding even more boho: beads, buttons and sequins to give your work that signature shimmer.
This is a week for experimentation, one-on-one feedback and walking away with a dimensional piece of fiber art that is entirely your own.
Prepare to relax and have fun during this workshop! Boho embroidery is all about slow stitching and enjoying the process and that is exactly what we will be doing while we spend time together!
Kit Fee: $30
Includes specialized mixed-media supplies that are difficult to find in project-sized quantities. This kit ensures everyone has the correct technical materials for a successful project.
