Quilt as you Grow

Availability: Spaces Available

Workshop Description:

Let's take the winding road of improvisation and see how we can learn to maneuver the detours and connect with our artistic voice on the way.

This workshop is about learning as much as unlearning. Because improvised quilting can be as much about piecing fabrics together, as it is about freedom, resilience and kindness, and it is time to throw away the rule book.

The major focus of this seminar is to explore the improvisation process: its challenges, but also its benefits, to give you tools to be more confident in improvisation. More than an 'know how to do', this workshop aims to give cues on 'how to be', to enhance creativity in improvisation.

Over the course of the week participants will have the opportunity to work on a personal improvisation quilt project of their own choosing, to explore their own sense of creativity with coaching and feedback.

Each day presentations and discussions will take place around the topics of improvisation, curve piecing techniques, off-the-grid quilting construction, colors and the use of upcycled fabrics. A group visit to The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum will also be planned for more inspiration.

The objectives for the participants are joy, connection and freedom.

’Playtime’ might be a more appropriate term then ‘Workshop’ in this setting.

Workshop Schedule:
Sunday Night: Welcome Meet and Greet at 6pm
Monday – Thursday: 9am – 4pm
Friday: 9am – 2pm
